Perks are abilities that grant the avatar special traits when roaming The World.

Unarmed perks

(These perks can be gained even if you miss a punch)

Boxer

"learned to throw punches with purpose"
This perk can be acquired by punching enemies 50 times in combat. Increases unarmed melee damage to two damage per punch.

Martial Artist

"learned to fight quite effectively without weapons"
Requires Boxer. This perk can be acquired by punching enemies 150 times in combat. Increases unarmed melee damage to six per punch.

Unarmed Master

"learned to strike faster without weapons"
Requires Martial Artist. This perk can be acquired by punching enemies 300 times in combat. Shortens the Punch cooldown to 1 second and increases unarmed melee damage to 12 per punch.

Event based perks

Barbarian (Force)

"learned to swing weapons with force"
The Barbarian perk adds *1.5 damage to all melee weapons . Note that punch damage is unaffected by this perk.

This perk can be acquired by choosing "Force" from the Wandering Master event.

Evasive

"learned to be where they're not"
The Evasive perk causes enemies to miss more often when attempting to hit the avatar in combat. By default, most enemies hit with 80% accuracy. "Evasive" reduces this by a further 20% (ie, 80% * 80% = 64% for most enemies).

This perk can be acquired by choosing "Evasion" from the Wandering Master event.

Precise

"learned to predict their movement"
The Precise perk grants the player greater accuracy when attempting to strike or shoot an enemy, preventing them from missing as often. "Precise" increases accuracy from 80% to 90%.

This perk can be acquired by choosing "Precision" from the Wandering Master event.

Scout

"learn to look ahead"
The Scout perk allows the player to uncover more of the map when they traverse The Barren World. Purchasing the Scout perk extends the radius of visibility to 4 squares (the default distance is 3 squares).

This perk is acquired when the player is randomly presented with an event in which a Scout visits the village.

Stealthy

"learned how not to be seen"
The Stealthy perk allows the player to walk for longer distances on The World without engaging enemies as often. It reduces the chance of an encounter to 10% per step (default is 20%). See section "fight chance" for details.

This perk is acquired when the player encounters The Thief event; if the player chooses to "Spare" him, the thief will grant the player with the Stealthy perk.

Hidden perks

Slow Metabolism

"learned how to ignore the hunger" Allows you to go twice as far without eating, moving four spaces rather than two.

This perk can be acquired by dying of starvation 10 times.

Desert Rat

"learned to love the dry air"
Allows you to go twice as far without drinking. (Two spaces rather than one.)

This perk can be acquired by dying of thirst 10 times.

There is a glitch where the perk does not apply to the avatar

Gastronome

"learned to make the most of food"
The Gastronome perk provides the player with 16 health instead of the usual 8 health whenever Cured Meat is eaten.

This perk can be acquired by giving a Charm to the Lone Wanderer in the Swamp while traveling the World.
